$13M Triad Streetscape Expected to Enhance Business Along Major Corridor

July 13, 2017

Greensboro Department of Transportation Director Adam Fischer said Wednesday that a $13.3 million streetscape project designed to revamp a 1.7-mile section of Gate City Boulevard is almost finished and has already drastically improved the look of an area that is considered a gateway to the city. He said the contractor also eliminated overhead utilities and power lines, making the roadway from the Greensboro Coliseum at Chapman Street to the Koury Convention Center at Pinecroft Road much more visually appealing for visitors of restaurants, hotels and other attractions. “The city has made a $13.3 million investment in making this a nicer corridor and a better place to be,” Fischer said. “The existing businesses will hopefully see a return on the investment by increasing business.” For pedestrians and drivers, “there is a huge difference in the appearance of the roadway,” he said.
