Aberdeen is attracting plenty of attention these days. New shops and restaurants have opened, storefronts have been revitalized, and town leaders have pumped up funding toward capital improvement and beautification projects to improve pedestrian safety and overall enjoyment of the downtown shopping area. On Tuesday, the town received more good news with notification that it has earned designation in the North Carolina Main Street program. “This is exciting. I am happy for downtown. I am happy for Aberdeen. This is a positive step and things are looking good down here,” said Aberdeen Mayor Robbie Farrell.
