High Point Eyes Stormwater Project In Developing Area; City Departments Full Swing Ahead of Market

A future city stormwater project to address flooding will target an area that may see significant development activity in the next couple of years. The City Council has approved a $254,710 contract for an engineering study of how to address stormwater runoff in areas around W. Ray Avenue and High Point Regional that are prone to severe flooding.

In other news, as the High Point Market begins setting up shop, it brings in some large, but not surprising, numbers. About 75,000 people come into the city. They wander around 11.5 million square feet of showspace. More than 200 countries are represented. So how many pounds of cardboard do showrooms bring in each year? The relatively light material may sound like it wouldn’t bring in numbers as large as 75,000 or 11.5 million.
