Craft breweries add more than $1 billion and 10,000 jobs to North Carolina’s economy, and the industry is growing fast, a beer booster said Tuesday at an annual travel and tourism meeting in Greenvillle. Margo Metzger, executive director of the North Carolina Craft Brewers Guild, highlighted the role that craft beer and tourism have played in the economic growth and development in North Carolina during the Greenville-Pitt County Convention and Visitors Bureau’s Second Annual National Travel and Tourism Week Luncheon at the Holiday Inn. National Travel and Tourism Week is from May 7 to May 13. Metzger, the headline speaker, said craft brewing has had an incredible impact in small towns and big cities, and the industry’s growth is evident in eastern North Carolina.
