Multipurpose Complex Moving Forward in Shelby

February 13, 2017

The Shelby City Council took steps recently to move along with a proposed multipurpose recreation complex at the Hanna property on McBrayer Springs Road. The property was donated to the City of Shelby by the Hannah family in 2007 under the stipulation that it be used for parks and recreational purposes. The city’s Parks and Recreation Master Plan adopted in 2008 included the development of the complex on a portion of the 84-acre parcel. The recreation complex project consists of developing six soccer and football fields, five large and one small, with associated support facilities including a park entrance drive, playground, parking lot areas, a restroom and concession building, picnic facilities, shelters and pedestrian walks and trails.
