Open house on land-use plan draws crowd

August 31, 2018

If the first public event is any indication, Swansboro’s land-use plan update should be one that reflects the will of the people. In an open house on Aug. 7, more than 130 showed up to look over, discuss and comment on the plan as it has progressed to date. That input is critical for the committee that is charged with drafting the update, according to Frank Tursi, a town commissioner and the chairman of the update committee. Public participation is considered key to the success of the plan. “We have a great turnout,” Tursi said as he looked around the Swansboro Town Hall Community Room during the open house. “This is more than gratifying. People in Swansboro care.”
