Real estate brokers in the Cape Fear region just saw the highest January for home sales on record. There was a 41 percent increase for January home sales compared with the same month last year, according to data released by Cape Fear Realtors, formerly known as the Wilmington Regional Association of Realtors. With the record-setting 601 homes sold this January, the only other January that comes close was January of 2006 with a total of 564. “I think the numbers we are seeing are reflective of consumer confidence in the current real estate market,” said Neal Johnson, president of Cape Fear Realtors. He used the words “healthy, active, and robust” to describe the market.
