Using the upcoming Wells Fargo Championship in May as a springboard, the Wilmington Chamber of Commerce with local government support is launching a marketing initiative it hopes will mean attracting new businesses and jobs for the area. “This is going to be promoting the region from an economic development perspective,” said Dick Blouse, interim president and CEO of the chamber. “Our bottom line here is jobs and investments. The Wells Fargo Championship offers an opportunity for us to showcase this region as a top destination for business and investment.” The chamber already has commitments of $125,000 from New Hanover County and City of Wilmington combined over the next two years, along with $100,000 from the chamber’s Cape Fear Future Foundation.
