Winston-Salem Explores New Bond Referendum

September 19, 2017

Winston-Salem voters could be heading to the polls in 2018 to vote on issuing a new round of bonds to pay for improvements that city leaders have often called long overdue.
On Monday, the Winston-Salem City Council approved the appointment of an 11-member Citizens’ Capital Needs Committee that would look at the city’s needs in the run-up to a potential 2018 bond referendum. “The idea is to bring citizens and business community leaders together to look at our capital needs and make recommendations on what kind of package would make sense,” said Winston-Salem Mayor Allen Joines, who put together the list of people who would serve on the panel.
