In a span of 26 days, a Winston-Salem water tank went from being a blank canvas to a work of art. A 50-foot tall American river otter graces the water tank amid an explosion of geometric shapes and colors, brightening the drive for commuters on Peters Creek Parkway. The mural, which encompasses a 15,000-square foot space, will be visible to roughly 25,000 drivers a day, according to the city. The money was provided to the city by a developer of the grocery store, Lidl, city officials have said. The city said the mural could set the tone for a future city park in the area adjoining the water tower.
